Jack wins zone in Veals League…
Still fishing in the senior class Jack Reynolds of Worlebury was in fine form in the Veals League match at Aust. The league consists of ten matches with the best results of eight counted. The competition finishes in November.
Conditions were not ideal with a constant wind blowing at the anglers but at least it was dry. Many of the experienced fishermen struggled to make a catch.
The 13-year-old won Zone A bagging himself forty pounds in prize money. His haul consisted of a conger eel and a silver eel with a combined weight of one pound fourteen and a quarter ounces. In second place was his father, Richard Reynolds who lost out by the small margin of a quarter of an ounce.
Jack was using a Zziplex Primo Match sea fishing rod with an Infinity 8000 reel. The reel was sponsored by Michael Busby of Weston-super-Mare. He was using three-hook clip downs and three-hook flappers with ragworm bait. His Sakuma hooks were sponsored by Anglers Corner.
When asked what he put his success down to, he said: “I was lucky to get a good draw in a position where there was going to be fish.”
He is a Year 9 pupil at Worle Community School in Weston-super-Mare and a member of Bristol Channel Fishing – Supporting Angling Communities, where he takes part in match fishing for Channel Anglers. He is coached by James T Madsen.
Jack is sponsored by Baytree Road Garage, Weston-super-Mare.
