Jack second in zone in Veals League…
Elite sea angler Jack Reynolds of Worlebury was in fine form in the Veals League match, round nine, at Aust. The league consists of ten matches with the best results of eight counted. The competition has one round to go with the final match on Sunday 17 November at Littleton.
Conditions were difficult with wind and rain causing problems for the anglers.
The 13-year-old came second in Zone C bagging himself twenty pounds in prize money. He also came second in the Super Pool taking another ninety pounds. This was a considerable achievement considering the senior, skilled anglers that he was up against.
His haul consisted of three codling, the largest being 40 cm, a bass 37 cm and an eel weighing in at 14.1 ozs.
Jack was using a Zziplex Primo Match sea fishing rod with an Infinity 8000 reel. The reel was sponsored by Michael Busby of Weston-super-Mare. He was using three-hook clip downs and three-hook flappers with ragworm bait. His Sakuma hooks were sponsored by Anglers Corner.
When asked what he put his success down to, he said: “The help I have been given by the club anglers and my coach.”
He is a Year 9 pupil at Worle Community School in Weston-super-Mare and a member of Bristol Channel Fishing – Supporting Angling Communities, where he takes part in match fishing for Channel Anglers. He is coached by James T Madsen.
