Hornettes girls selected for Centre of Excellence…

Four Weston Hornettes players have been selected for the U18 Centre of Excellence programme with the English RFU. They are one step further along the England Pathway.

All of those selected have represented Somerset U18 Girls and are undefeated this season at county level. The players are Amy Coles, Katie Reynolds, Natasha Foley and Eleanor Febrey.

Following a review of the Junior Academy programme in 2017, England Rugby and the new Tyrrells Premier 15s (TP15s) launched the U18 Centre of Excellence (CoE) programme in 2018 which will be delivered collaboratively out of the TP15s clubs. Tyrrells Premier 15s is the elite Women’s rugby competition in England.

The CoE’s are designed to develop players on an individual basis in a training environment. Now the hard work begins. They must use this training environment to continue to work hard and develop themselves as players and individuals – ‘Better is always possible’.

Their development and performances will be continued to be monitored throughout the CoE programme, as will their attendance, adherence and how they engage and uphold the core values of the Centre of Excellence and of the wider Performance Pathway. Team First; Excellence; Respect; Discipline.

Amy is a student at Weston College, Natasha – Backwell 6th Form and Eleanor Hartpury College.

Katie is a Year 11 pupil at Worle Community School in Weston-super-Mare where she has played football, hockey and rugby with distinction. She has been awarded the girls’ sports trophy.
